The event was jointly hosted by VGU and the <strong>Sustainability Unit of RMIT University Vietnam<\/strong>, with generous support from the <strong>Friedrich Naumann Foundation Vietnam (FNF)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Summit brought together over <strong>40 participants<\/strong>, including students, young professionals, and academics from VGU, RMIT, TU Darmstadt, and other universities, along with representatives from civil society, development organizations, and the private sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the theme <strong>\u201cRoles of Women in Localizing the SDGs\u201d<\/strong>, the Summit provided a platform to explore how women\u2019s leadership and cross-sector collaboration can drive the implementation of the <strong>Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong> in Vietnam and the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"http:\/\/leadhership.vgu.edu.vn\/leadhership\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/PHI_0713-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-486\" srcset=\"http:\/\/leadhership.vgu.edu.vn\/leadhership\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/PHI_0713-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/leadhership.vgu.edu.vn\/leadhership\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/PHI_0713-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/leadhership.vgu.edu.vn\/leadhership\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/PHI_0713-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/leadhership.vgu.edu.vn\/leadhership\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/PHI_0713-1536x1023.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/leadhership.vgu.edu.vn\/leadhership\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/PHI_0713-2048x1364.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\ud83c\udfaf Empowering Women and Youth for Local Action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Opening the event, <strong>Dr. \u0110\u00e0o Th\u1ecb B\u00edch V\u00e2n<\/strong>, Lecturer at VGU and Project Lead of <em>LeadHerShip<\/em>, welcomed participants by emphasizing that the Summit was not just an academic conference, but <em>\u201ca space for young changemakers to connect, learn, and co-create solutions for a more inclusive and sustainable future.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The LeadHerShip project, launched in 2024 with support from FNF Vietnam, focuses on empowering women in academia through leadership training and financial literacy workshops. The 2025 Summit marked a new milestone by expanding this initiative into an interdisciplinary forum for youth engagement and SDG action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\ud83c\udf38 Keynote Highlights: Inspiring Perspectives on Gender and Sustainability<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three keynote sessions anchored the Summit, each offering a unique lens on gender, leadership, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Dr. Tr\u01b0\u01a1ng Th\u1ee5c Tuy\u1ec1n (RMIT University Vietnam): \u201cWomen as Catalysts of SDG Localization\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Tuy\u1ec1n underscored how women play transformative roles in translating the SDGs into local realities. Drawing on national data and her recent research, she highlighted that <em>\u201cgender equality is a multiplier \u2014 when women lead, entire communities progress.\u201d<\/em> Her talk also shed light on how Gen Z women are redefining leadership and sustainability through their education and career choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Dr. L\u00ea Th\u1ecb Thu H\u01b0\u01a1ng (VGU): \u201cClimate Change, Cities, and Communities: Empowering Women for Climate Action\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. H\u01b0\u01a1ng focused on urban climate resilience, illustrating how women\u2019s participation is critical in addressing SDG 13 (<em>Climate Action<\/em>) and SDG 11 (<em>Sustainable Cities and Communities<\/em>). She shared success stories from Southeast Asia and called for inclusive climate governance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen women are part of the solution, cities become not only more sustainable but also more just.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Ms. \u0110inh Th\u1ecb Ng\u1ecdc Qu\u00fd (UPEACE Alumna): \u201cTogether We Lead \u2013 Young Women Partnering for Equality and SDG Action\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms. Qu\u00fd inspired participants with stories of youth-led SDG initiatives, from gender clubs to climate advocacy projects. She introduced practical toolkits for SDG localization and emphasized collaborative leadership:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe SDGs start where we live \u2014 in our classrooms, our workplaces, and our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\ud83d\udcac Panel Discussion: Voices of Change<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A highlight of Day 1 was the <strong>Panel Discussion on \u201cWomen and Youth in Localizing the SDGs,\u201d<\/strong> featuring speakers from academia, NGOs, and the private sector \u2014 including <strong>Dr. \u0110\u1eb7ng Th\u1ecb Ng\u1ecdc Lan (VGU)<\/strong>, <strong>Ms. M\u1eabn Th\u1ecb Thu H\u01b0\u1eddng (MOJO Learn)<\/strong>, and <strong>Ms. My Nguy\u1ec5n (Women\u2019s Empowerment Club &#8211; WEC)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Panelists discussed the evolving role of women in leadership, the importance of male allies, and the need to integrate gender perspectives into sustainability education. The discussion encouraged participants to reflect on their own agency in advancing gender equality and environmental responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\ud83e\udde9 Workshops and Interactive Learning<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two interactive workshops gave participants practical skills to turn ideas into action:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Workshop 1 \u2013 Women\u2019s Leadership in Sustainability<\/strong>, hosted by <strong>WEC<\/strong>, explored leadership mindsets, advocacy, and collaborative project building.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Workshop 2 \u2013 Financial Literacy and SDG Localization<\/strong>, co-led by the <strong>DOC Community<\/strong>, introduced participants to financial planning tools, budgeting for social projects, and sustainable entrepreneurship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These sessions encouraged experiential learning and peer exchange, allowing participants to practice communication, teamwork, and decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\ud83c\udf31 BrainHurricane: Youth as Changemakers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The signature activity of the Summit was the <strong>BrainHurricane \u2013 World Caf\u00e9 Session<\/strong>, facilitated by <strong>Dr. \u0110\u00e0o Th\u1ecb B\u00edch V\u00e2n<\/strong>.
